Lightbox & Colour

Sun Feb 17, 2008, 9:26 AM
Couple of things photographic.

First, I finally got round to buying a monitor profiling "blob". I went for the Spyder2Express because morris photographic had them on offer on ebay. Beforehand I'd been using some dodgy chart wizard software which never really gave a proper profile.

Secondly, I've built myself a lightbox using foamboard. Check out Sweet for one of the better shots I've had with it. I'm not sure I'd have had the confidence to post it without having my monitor calibrated first--the colours are pretty vibrant.

Submitting Again!

Thu Dec 20, 2007, 3:56 PM
Wow I've finally got round to selecting a few properly finished shots from thousands and submitted. I think the last time I added anything to my gallery was April earlier this year O-o

I've cleaned all of the junk out of my gallery too; there must've been hundreds of pretty poor images.

So I aim to keep gallery a bit more up to date in the future =D

I'm getting a new computer _very_ soon which I won't have to share with the rest of my family. It's great because I can set up and profile my monitor once without everyone deciding it's too dark and wacking contrast and brightness up to full ;]

Anyway, merry crimbo everyone!

About the whole not submitting art thing...

Sat Sep 15, 2007, 3:04 PM
I haven't added any photography for WAAYYYY too long, the last being sometime in march/april if I remember, sorry about that folks...

The thing is, I haven't really had enough time to actually sort through the thousands of shots I've taken lately (the file counter on my D50 has gone past the 11,000 mark since I bought it).

It's not that I've been ignoring dArt as such, I've simply been backlogged with sorting out the masses of images, getting the colours right, fiddling with curves, deciding whether or not to switch to Photoshop over PSP, deleting reams of poor shots, etc. At the moment I seem to be shooting far more than I can even look at, let alone post.

In fact, I have about 6 or 7 images ready to simply add a title and description and upload.

Oh yeah, and I'm pretty certain what I'm going to do with most of the images already in my gallery... file 13. I mean, just look at [link] - it's just... crap.

So anyway, this is just me waving an "I'm Still Here" flag to everyone while I sort out my images.

So I like totaly have to like update this thing du

So I've been completely neglecting this journal - I have a grand master total of SIX entries, the last being on October 21st last year O-o

Hokay, I have some kindof odd trivia that may/may not have anything to do with DA, art in general or infact anything you really care about...

Unfortunately my photography has kindof been put off for a bit because of school :@. All this boring coursework - no time for my 'art' =/

BUUTTT I have been whipping up some mightily funky bass riffs as of late (or so my ego thinks =]). I wish DA would let you up sound clips too - that would super rock! I suppose I could embed the music in a flash.... as if I can get motivation to actually start using flash again.

And past 3M deviations?!?!? Woah, are you competing with T3h Googles on server farm sizes yet? You rock with this being all open and public and all that jazz. What I would do to be a dev. on here... (Ya know I do XHTML, CSS & PHP - nudge, nudge).

Wow I bet I'm making a hellova lot of sense right now - I'm should stop writing later than 6pm.

Anyhoo at least I've actually used this journal thing again * proud *

edit: grr the journal ate the end of my title

New Lens!

Sat Oct 21, 2006, 3:53 AM
My new Tamron 70-300mm lens turned up on Tuesday =D.

I've been shooting like mad but I havn't had any time to upload - school work and other things havn't left me with much time to clean my shots.

It was a fantastic price - £120 from The Digital Camera Company. I don't suppose it will last long so get one quick

It has a 1:2 magnification ratio - not as good as the PC Micro Nikkor 55mm I've been using (1:1) but still gives fantastic shots. The 300mm is so usefull because it means I don't have to sit right on top of my composition =D.

The AF is a little slow and noisy but you cant argue for that price.

I'll no doubt be uploading hundreds of shots from the lens in the future.
